ALL DRESSED-UP WITH NOWHERE TO GO

opening on Thursday, December 13th, 2007 from 7 pm
the exhibition runs through until January 20th, 2008
curated by WHW
exhibiting artists: Danica Dakić, Sanja Iveković, David Maljković, Roman Ondák and Kateřina Šedá
"All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go looks behind the glass of smooth transition processes of 'catching up with Europe', at places imprinted by delays, stoppages, and postponements, but also by sudden accelerations and fast tempos, at traumatized and fragmented spaces miraculously transformed into omnipresent consumerist landscapes, at new figures of subjectivity and strategies of desire. It tries to lurk behind the stage of phantasm of integration politics and to relocate the question of otherness and its representation into contexts of local modernisms, especially to look how is contradictory and unstable 'local' (or particular, or somehow deviating from dominant idioms) represented in the visions of New Europe, 'Continent of Hope'."
The exhibition is also supported by the Croatian Ministery of Culture, City of Zagreb, and under auspices of the Croatian Embassy in Prague
